'SYTYCD' final 14 are revealed

The 14 contestants to take part in new reality TV series So You Think You Can Dance have been named.

The dance competition, which has run for six seasons in the US, will be hosted by Cat Deeley and is due to get underway on BBC One in the New Year.

Dancers from all disciplines have been battling it out since October for a place in the top 14 and the chance to win £100,000 plus an opportunity to dance on the US version of the show

The BBC has now revealed the names of those who will be challenged to master different dance styles every week, before trying to impress judges Nigel Lythgoe, Arlene Phillips, and the voting public with their routines.

The contestants are:

Alastair Postlethwaite, 28, Lancashire, classical ballet
Lancashire born and bred ballet boy hoping to further his career from the show. If he's not dancing, he's farming.

Anabel Kutay, 26, Manchester, professional dancer
Sassy and sophisticated contemporary dancer who's addicted to buying vintage clothes.

Charlie Bruce, 19, Beckenham, jazz
Bubbly jazz dancer with a penchant for shoe shopping.

Chloë Campbell, 25, Hanwell, jazz
Livewire tomboy who is always running on 100%.

Chris Piper, 26, London, lyrical - contemporary
Cheeky chappy and the life and soul of the party.

Drew McOnie, 24, London, contemporary
MGM-inspired dance choreographer and self-confessed dreamer.

Gavin Tsang, 23, Shrewsbury, contemporary
Late arrival in the dance world - helps out in his parents' Chinese takeaway.

Hayley Newton, 26, Surrey, Broadway - jazz
A 'girly girl' whose perfect evening is a night in with a box set of 24.

Lizzie Gough, 25, London, professional dancer
Bikram yoga addict who lives with her street dancer boyfriend.

Mandy Montanez, 31, Maryland, USA, jazz - contemporary
A self-confessed chatterbox who lives her life by the motto "happiness is something you earn".

Mark Calape, 24, Milton Keynes, hip hop
A family man who thinks that dance isn't just a routine, it's a feeling.

Robbie White, 22, Manchester & Stuttgart, contemporary
Multi-talented, a fantastic musician and web designer in his spare time.

Tommy Franzen, 28, Sweden, hip hop
Swedish street dancer who's also a sports massage therapist.

Yanet Fuentes, 27, Cuba, contemporary - salsa - hip hop
Passionate Latin performer who wishes her family back in Havana could see her on the show.
