Phillips told Campbell that she had "won her heart" on the BBC One reality show, but the 66-year-old judge was outvoted by Nigel Lythgoe, Louise Redknapp and Sisco Gomez on the panel.
Campbell departed the dance contest with partner Gavin Tsang after a disappointing Broadway performance on Saturday night.
Speaking about the potential of working with Phillips in the future, the 25-year-old told DS: "Coming from a musical theatre background and with Arlene obviously having such a strong history in that world, it really meant a lot for me that she was fighting my corner for me to stay.
"All I could really wish for is having someone like Arlene rooting for me. I haven't had the chance to speak to her personally yet, but I really would love to."
She added: "I would love to work for her. I would love to work in the West End and I would be honoured if she asked. We'll have to see what happens."
So You Think You Can Dance continues on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
