The judge remained tight-lipped on details, but revealed that fans are in for some "shocking, shocking, shocking" surprises.
"I can't say anything just yet, not until all my ducks are in a row, but it's going to be huge. I will tweet when we're going to release the news," he told the New York Post.
Lythgoe, who confirmed that he will remain on the judging panel, said that he has given up hope of Paula Abdul joining the show. "I spent an entire season wooing her and if she was ever going to do it, she would have," he said.
The seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance will premiere on May 27 on Fox.
