The new 'Hustle' crew revealed

Published Thursday, Jan 8 2009, 22:00 GMT | By Neil Wilkes | 37 comments
There's a new crew in town.

As revealed tonight in the twisty series premiere of Hustle, the two new members of the crew are brother-sister duo Emma (Kelly Adams) and Sean Kennedy (Matt Di Angelo).

Next week the pair join Mickey and Ash in a long con on these two:

Carlton Wood and Harry Fielding are successful venture capitalists who run City Prime Associates, a company specialising in intellectual property (trademarks, copyright and so on). The pair are ruthless thieves - often stealing other people's ideas, registering them as their own and then pocketing a hefty financial reward. In one particular case they nicked an idea from a small business owner, who went on to commit suicide. Prime marks.

The crew decide to pose as a PR firm to get their in - and it's young Sean who's responsible for making the introductions. But he has a bit of a drink problem to contend with on the way...

Meanwhile Mickey seems to have his sights set on Emma, but she surprises him with the line: "I don't do men."

Oh, and if you're worried about poor old Albert being banged up - we'll get to that in episode three.

What do you think of the new crew members? Are they good enough replacements for Danny and Stacie? Add your comments to this entry below!

danny and stacey just worked. danny was funny, cocky, and like a big kid but still cool and stacey was classy, fit and mixed well with the show. ive been watching the new series from the off but it still feels wrong kelly adams isnt bad at all but Matt D'angelo or whatever is such a poor replacement for what people were hoping ....BBC....hire back the old team please!

Really good series, but there should definitly be more than 6 episodes, 12 at least! I really hope there is a seires 6.

Great second episode, very clever. Matt di Angelo's performance in this episode should surely silence those who question his acting ability. (Remember he was much younger in EE and anyway how many of us are brilliant at our jobs straight a way. Acting like any other skill has to be learned and improves with experience as he has shown here.) Well done BBC for giving young actors a chance and well done Matt for delivering such a believable performance. Roll on Episode 3!

Great to see 'Hustle' back with us as always. Mega silly in the first episode with our hero Mickey conning his way all the way back from Aussie on an aircraft carrier posing as a naval officer and then Naval ratings in 'tropical' (white) uniform boating him up the Thames was a bit hard to take, (ex Navy guy here, sorry for being picky). Bit TOOOO far fetched that one but the arrival of the delicious Kelly Adams...well...I'll forgive anything for that!

Adrian Lester is, naturally, the great returning addition to this series. Kelly Adams makes an impressive entrance to the show through episode 1. 'Little brother' Matt Di Angelo I'm sure will grow into his role with further development. The old guard favourites of Robert's Glenister and Vaughn both return to their roles with such effortless originality that makes me excited for this new series. Totally agree with the ever so prominent & re-iterated comment stating that this series is too short at 6 episodes. Rather than to dilute the appeal of the show, I believe 8 episodes (rather than the 12 currently favoured) will help develop characters in line with viewer's demands and wants? Doing this while not damaging or diluting the potential storyline material required for this quality production. Looking forward to more of Tony Jordan's work!

I didn't watch last series as I finally got tired of the actress who played Stacie Monroe (a rather unlikely name, I always thought!). The actress seemed to be in love with herself - strange, as she wasn't overly attractive. I'm back with it now and - thankfully - so is Adrian Lester. The first episode itself was, of course, ridiculous - but fun all the same. Robert Glenister has always seemed to me to be a criminally underated actor, and he proved in the first episode he has a nice line in accents. And it's always nice to have Robert Vaughan around.

As someone that couldn't bear Deano Wicks I gotta chime in and say I disagree with some of the comments here. I wasn't jumping for joy when I saw Angelo turn up in the episode but by the end of it I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as he had won me over somewhat. Not saying he's oscar worthy but his acting is blatantly better in Hustle than it ever was in Eastenders and I was surprised. I can tell that and he was barely in it. Anyway, we'll have to see. The more I think about it the more pleased I am with last Thursday's episode as I was worried about Danny and Stacie not being there, but I didn't miss them much.

I dont how anyone can tell on one episode wether someone is gonna be good in a role or not. In most cases you are only as good as the script you are given so i am willing to give the show a few episodes to decide if it is as good as series 1-3 as lets face it series 4 was pretty awful. I must admit i enjoyed the 1st eprosde and thought both Matt and Kelly played the roles they were given pretty well. I never watched EE so this is the 1st time i have seen Matt acting and i thought he did ok.

I think the newbies fit in very well. Perhaps these bitter and rather over emotional comments re Matt Di Angelo are coming from posters who would prefer a certain ex Blue Peter presenter to be in it.

ermm...caroline...i think that's very narrow minded of you to not watch a series just because of an actor. and We've barely seen anything of matt di angelo in hustle so far...and from what we have seen i believe his acting to have improved greatly from that one EE. He has been cast a lead role in the play loot and is now in a leading BBC show...so i don't think he will have been cast such high profile roles if he is a bad actor.

What a shame Hustle have gone down the pretty boy but lousy actor route. Nothing wrong with soap actors, there are some that are very good. Unfortunately, Matt Di Angelo isn't one of them. He was shockingly bad as Deano Wicks and he isn't any better here. Never mind, Hustle have given the younger audience their eye candy and that is all that seems to matter these days. Great to see Mickey back. Marc Warren was good but Adrian Lester is a better leader. Robert Glenister is fantastic as usual. I hope they concentrate mainly on these two.

No! They are NOT that great! Bring BACK DANNY & STACIE!!!! I only watched the show because of them & i know a lot of people who do too! Im not that intrested in Hustle as much as i was.

That's a shame Caroline, you are going to miss a great series, luckily you appear to be the only one with that blinkered opinion.

Matt Di Angelo!!! What a disappointment - so turned off the series now. The acting in previous series and in this one by Robert Glenister and Marc Warren is brilliant - and then we get him!! A soap actor - will be very surprised if he can fit in to this series. Hope the BBC have not made a huge mistake.

the start of the new series shows promise of great things to come

DigitalSpy, start a campaign to the BBC to start getting a clue what we viewers want from our shows and demand more than bloody 6 episodes per season! We deserve at least 12/13 or even 24 episodes! The BBC need to wake up, they are the most pathetic channel ever, if it weren't for Hustle, I don't think I'd ever watch the BBC. But they should be generous when commissioning the amount of episodes for a series. Hustle definitely deserves 12+!!!!!!!!

i think this is going to be the best series EVER. the plot was brilliant and i was not expecting the twist at the end. brilliant job from the hustle team. hope its as good next week. :}

Loved the start of the new series, great to see Mickey back and Ash being his usual humourous self, Robert Glenister is so talented. Was'nt sure what this series would be like without Jamie and Marc but i must say i was pretty impressed with the 2 new characters. Kelly had the biggest part of the two newbies and was good in the role of the female boss but i think Matt played hs part very well and i could see the build towards his character towards the end. Looking forward to next week already and pretty gutted there are only 6 episodes in the series.
