Co-creator Iain Morris swiftly branded the tabloid report "total b*llocks" after it was claimed that one of the gang would be killed off in a new TV run.
However, a sequel of some kind could emerge in the future, with various cast members refusing to rule out a reformation.
Vote below in our poll on whether you believe The Inbetweeners should come back:
And why not? The Inbetweeners Movie achieved the biggest opening for a comedy in British cinema history and the third series pulled in huge audiences of over 3 million, E4's highest ever.
Commercial success aside, many feel the actors' ages - Simon Bird (Will) and Joe Thomas (Simon) are both already in their late-20s - mean any further reprieve could lack authenticity.
Moreover, the film's happy ending with all four boys - even Jay and Neil - meeting their match seemed a fitting close. And it's always tragic when a brilliant sitcom outstays its welcome (*cough* Only Fools and Horses *cough*).
But even this writer, so impressed with the film after an underwhelming TV finale, wouldn't miss another reunion special.
