'Inbetweeners' star plays down sequel talk: "There are no real plans"

By
Blake Harrison has insisted that there are "no real plans" to revive The Inbetweeners.

The E4 comedy hit ran for three series, before spawning a feature film spinoff - with a sequel in the early stages of development.

"The press seem to know more about it than I do," Harrison - who stars in new BBC Three series Way To Go - told TV Choice. "There is always a story that I know nothing about."

He joked: "Not too long ago it was, 'Oh there's going to be a fourth series of The Inbetweeners and one of the lads is going to get killed off'. I was like, 'Well, I haven't heard anything about that, so that looks bad for me!'"

Harrison - who played slow-witted Neil - insisted that there are "no real plans" for an Inbetweeners movie sequel in the immediate future.

"I think the writers are mulling over script ideas for another potential movie, but that's all it is," he explained. "There is no deal done. There is no script finished. It's at a really foetal stage

"Whether anything happens or not is anyone's guess at the moment. There is nothing confirmed, and that's not a bad thing because maybe it's a nice thing to bow out with people wanting more."

Harrison's co-star Simon Bird (Will) told Digital Spy in October that the Inbetweeners film "was a good conclusion" to the franchise.

"If [the writers] come to us and say that they have a good idea for another one, then obviously we'd be happy to talk about it," he said. "They haven't done that yet, despite the papers saying that a sequel is confirmed."
