The iconic cookery show originally aired on BBC One when it launched in 1990, but moved to BBC Two in 2000.
The show, presented and judged by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, follows members of the public as they set out to prove they have the flair and skill to make it as a great chef.
"MasterChef remains the best celebration of amateur cooking on British television," said controller of BBC One Jay Hunt. "I have watched it religiously since I was a child and am delighted it will be moving to BBC One."
Raymond Blanc recently expressed an interest in working with this year's MasterChef winner.
