Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace added the pair to the semi-final line-up alongside Matt, Terry, Stacie, Tim and Dhruv last night. One more contestant, the winner of this year's Comeback Week, will join them in Friday's show.
Alex served up pan-fried pigeon breast with liquid pea ravioli, pea shoots and candied bacon vinaigrette. His pudding was an apple, vanilla and bay leaf tart tatin with calvados cream.
Speaking about the desert, Torode said: "Huge amounts of vanilla among those apples. Loads of caramel which is sweet and sticky. Alex I think it is very well thought of, great idea!"
Meanwhile, Nargis impressed with fish pakoras with riata and coriander chutney. She followed with chicken saag curry on pilau rice.
"You are building up layers bit by bit, which are rolling across your palate one after the other. The flavours are brilliant," said Wallace, about the curry. Torode added: "I love it Nargis. I love it."
Speaking afterwards, Nargis said: "I can't believe that I'm through to the semi-final. I feel completely elated. I really feel so happy today."
Alex claimed that he was "on top of the world" after reaching the next stage in the competition, adding: "I really believe I can do it now. I really believe I can win MasterChef."
MasterChef continues on Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One.
