The 33-year-old from Glasgow failed to make the cut for the top seven after a week of vegetarian challenges from John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
All the hopeful chefs were set a MasterChef kitchen task by guest mentor Yotam Ottolenghi, asked to cook meals for a circus on location in South London, and - in the finale - put through a vegetarian invention test.
Speaking to DS about his exit from the show, Leitch admitted that he had a "gut feeling" he would be leaving the competition this week.
He also confessed that the vegetarian challenges were his "worst nightmare", adding: "I'm quite a fussy eater at the best of times, so to take away the best bit and my favourite bit of meals was a disaster really. I knew it was going to be tough."
MasterChef continues next Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One.
