The carpenter failed to make it into the top four after cooking for a panel of food critics.
Speaking to DS, Perry admitted that it was "gutting" to leave the competition.
Blaming his choice of menu for his elimination, he explained: "It was a silly, silly mistake of a menu. I tried to be a little bit too clever and wild. The thing is, at that sort of time you have to push the boundaries a little bit and go for it and I went for something that was wrong, quite horribly wrong, and I got shot down for it. That's what I have to live with."
Perry also revealed that he believes Tom will take the MasterChef title.
"Tom has a tenacity like nothing I've ever seen, and a skill like nothing I've ever seen," he said. "I think Tom has what it takes to be superb, really superb."
MasterChef continues on Wednesday at 10pm on BBC One.
