Martin Freeman on Sherlock series 3: 'Sherlock and John love each other'

By
Martin Freeman has discussed the dynamic between Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Sherlock's third series.

Speaking to Digital Spy last week, Freeman confirmed that the pair's relationship will not be significantly changed in the three new episodes, despite the repercussions of Sherlock faking his own death in 'The Reichenbach Fall'.

"Our incarnation particularly is one of mutual admiration and antagonism," Freeman explained. "You see that they slightly drive each other mad with their ways, but they have a love for each other and an admiration for each other's qualities."

Mark Gatiss's series 3 premiere 'The Empty Hearse' will have its first screening at the BFI in London today (December 15), prior to its New Year's Day transmission on BBC One.

Steve Thompson's 'The Sign of Three' will follow on January 5, with Steven Moffat's finale 'His Last Vow' airing a week later on January 12.
