Julie wins first Australian 'MasterChef'
Julie Goodwin last night became the first ever winner of MasterChef Australia, taking home $100,000 (£49,200) and a cookbook deal.

After three months away from her children, Goodwin beat Malaysian-born contestant Poh Ling Yeow by serving up a replica of celebrity chef Matt Moran's signature chocolate pastry dish.

The 38-year-old mother said: "I don't know if I can describe it. I feel happy!"

The show's judges, chefs George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan and food writer Matt Preson, all cried as the results were announced.

The winner of the reality TV show recently announced that she wants to produce a cookbook filled with family stories and recipes. She said: "I just want to serve good, unpretentious food... I want [people] to feel like they've been loved."
