The chefs-turned-film critics were given the opportunity to view the movie, which tells the story of gastro writer Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and New York food blogger Julie Powell (Amy Adams) before the Australian public.
Goodwin wrote about the movie: "There were many parallels I saw between the movie and my own life. I loved that Julia becomes a cook because she loves to eat. That's why I became a cook."
Jenkins added: "I was completely and utterly charmed by the movie. I related very strongly to [Julia] because, before she discovered the joy of cooking, she was floundering a little and didn't know what she wanted to do with her life. I felt the same way until last year."
Julie and Julia is in cinemas now.
