'The X Factor' USA season two debuts with over 700,000 viewers in UK

By
Season two of The X Factor USA launched in the UK to decent numbers on Thursday night (September 27).

Some 730k (3.3%) watched the two-hour premiere - which featured the introduction of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to the panel - from 8pm, after which a further 188k (1%) caught up on +1.

Though shedding a sizeable 500,000 on 2011's opener, it is worth bearing in mind that this year's premiere was transmitted 15 days after it aired in America.

Screened immediately after X Factor USA, Celebrity Juice topped the multichannel ratings with a hefty 1.63 million (9.3%) between 10pm and 10.45pm, adding 282k (2.9%) on ITV2 +1.

Notably, ITV2's average primetime share of 4.1% (+1: 0.6%) meant it beat terrestrial competitor Channel 5, which had 3.2%.

Russell Howard's Good News returned with its highest-ever debut ratings of 989k (4.5%) in the first half-hour of the 9pm junction. Some further 274k (7.9%) Howard fans watched the 12.30am repeat.
