Reality TV series The Only Way Is Essex averaged 1.01m (4.8%) for ITV2 from 10pm, the show's biggest Sunday night audience so far in the current series. A further 207k (1.6%) tuned in on ITV2+1.
Vera, a new detective drama starring Brenda Blethyn, premiered with 5.26m (22%) on ITV1 between 8pm and 10pm, while 212k (0.9%) watched on ITV1+1.
The programme proved too strong for Exile, a new drama starring Jim Broadbent and John Simm, which captivated 4.39m (17.8%) on BBC One in the 9pm hour.
Countryfile grabbed 4.71m (23.2%) on BBC One in the 7pm hour, while The Cube entertained 3.57m (20%) on ITV1 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.
Antiques Roadshow had 5.12m (22%) on BBC One in the 8pm hour and Match Of The Day 2 scored with 3.32m (22.1%) from 10.30pm. New arts strand Perspectives launched with 970k (5.4%) on ITV1 from 10.15pm.
On BBC Two, extended live coverage of snooker's The World Championship Final pocketed 2.47m (10.9%) from 7pm. QI amused 1.16m (5.9%) from 10.15pm.
Channel 4's Come Dine With Me served up 1.14m (5.6%) in the 7pm hour and 362k (1.6%) on +1. The Hotel continued with 1.52m (6.5%) from 8pm and 279k (1.1%) on +1. A screening of The Bank Job took 2.04m (9.3%) from 9pm and 475k (3%) on timeshift.
Showings of The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad and Godzilla roused 883k (5.5%) and 1.23m (5.3%) on Channel 5 between 6pm and 10pm. Zombie drama The Walking Dead scared up 1.19m (5.9%) between 10pm and 11.30pm.
Overall, BBC One won primetime with 20.9% against ITV1's 19.4% (+1: 0.8%). BBC Two came in third with 10.1%, followed by Channel 4 with 7.6% (+1: 1.3%) and Channel 5 with 5.5%.
