Producers are said to have banned Childs from making a lucrative appearance on the Channel 5 show because they want the cast to remain "real people".
Childs, who was previously rumoured to be leaving The Only Way Is Essex for her own series, allegedly quit the ITV2 show after the row and now believes she can make around £500,000 from other TV deals, including £200,000 for Celebrity Big Brother.
"The Only Way Is Essex is a community show. It stars TOWIE people, not Big Brother wannabes - it's new and fresh," a source told The Sun.
"It's bizarre that Amy wants to do a show that was axed last year for being out of date. It's sad she's leaving - viewers liked her. But no one's bigger than the show."
A friend added: "You can imagine how her life would improve with that cash. There are no hard feelings."
Producers are now looking for new characters for the third series of The Only Way Is Essex, which starts filming soon.
