The 23-year-old, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother this year, is expected to pause filming for a while but it is not yet clear for how long she will be on hiatus.
Following reports that Faiers had chosen to quit the show, a TOWIE source told Digital Spy: "Sam is taking a break at the end of the series."
Faiers suffered from a mystery illness in the Big Brother house that was later diagnosed as Crohn's disease.
She recently told Digital Spy that she has only been able to start eating again in the last week or so, adding: "I'm feeling a lot better in myself and I'm putting on weight. It's a lot better than it was."
Rumours have also been circulating about Faiers' relationship with former TOWIE star Joey Essex, though the latter recently said that they are currently "just friends".
Meanwhile, reports had suggested that James 'Diags' Bennewith, Tom Pearce and Jasmin Walia had decided to quit The Only Way Is Essex, but the speculation has since been denied.
The current series of The Only Way Is Essex comes to an end on Wednesday (April 2) at 10pm on ITV2, but two more runs have already been ordered.
