The reason why I love Skins is not because they explicitly show sex, drugs, and profanity as people here seem to mention. It's not like Skins is appealing because of those reasons only. There is a rawness, charisma in the characters, especially Effy. The Americans always cover teen dramas with sugar and plastic, that it becomes so typical and predictable. America is just not very good when it comes to making teen dramas. They seem to think we're all idiots who like plastic, fake actors who have no depth or sincerity behind them. From what I've seen in America, it should just stick to animations and independent films. Mainstream wise, America sucks. Big time. So fake and 2 dimensional.

They look s**t

Not to mention that Tony is so HOT, i just think that they need to make it as raw and as gritty, yet real as possible. The main concern for most people is that they believe this will turn into another one of those typical american fake tv shows where people with perfect looks and bodies are the main characters who might i add are actually played by 30 year old actors e.g. 90210 and Gossip Girl. This just needs to be different and original and i think that being said it could go really far...

I think that even though the show isn't getting a lot of publicity at the moment because everyones hung up on how they copied the english version and how it ruined it etc etc. i think a lot of people will nevertheless get really into it once they start watching it especially when the show changes into its own plot after the couple of similar episodes.

Skins is my favourite show. The British are the real deal! :)

oh cmon, just watch the trailer, why the hell would they redo Skins when all they're doing is THE SAME THING. the whole story line is the same just with different characters. be more creative. im just gonna keep watching the english ones cause i honestly think this is stupid.

There is no way this is going to be anywhere as good as the original version they're just taking the same characters, stories and script but setting it in America this time :S

This just isn't going to work.

this has the potential to be pretty good - but it'll take a lot of firsts from mtv. like, don't try to over-Americanize it just to make it more original. i think the problem with a lot of our teen dramas is they build characters off of a stereotype rather than a human being - can't characters change and experiment and suffer like the rest of us? they don't always have to be perfect, beautiful, rich fantasy people that nobody can relate to. a lot of the stuff skins UK gets to do can be done on american tv, just less blatantly. it CAN be done, but will it? right now i'd say no

I love Skins, it's one of the better dramas on TV these days, but I'm with the skeptics - how can we possibly Americanise it without making it just like every other teen drama we already have? Skins is known for blatantly discussing teen sex, drug use, and features a hell of a lot more profanity than would pass in the US. I'll give it a shot, but if it becomes a watered down rip off of the UK version, I'm bailing.

Looks better than the UK 3rd generation Skins cast and it may be better than our expectations

i already dislike it. i have nooo idea how they are going to try and americanise skins. its such a UK thing. the way they talk, act and even dress. im willing to bet they'll just mess it up.and wat the heck is with making maxxie a girl.

i prefer the old skins cast (cook)

Like someone said before: Why do they need a remake? It's in English! I would understand a remake if ours was from the 70s or 80s and needed updating but I was at college when Skins first came out. I am not impressed, although I will probably watch it out of pure curiosity.

So they ditched the gay character for a much easier to market and titilate with lesbian. Typical. This already has failure written all over it.

i think its really a big pressure for you guys, 2ND GENERATION in UK (naomi, freddie, cook, effy, katie, jj, thomas, pandora, and emily, really rock the skins world.. they all done a great job. 1000 votes for them.

They are recreations of the first British generation. They are, from the left; Cadie (Cassie), Stanley (Sid), Eura (Effy), Michelle, Chris, Tony, Tea (Maxxie), Abbud (Anwar) and Daisy (Jal). And yes, Maxxie is a girl now. Tea is a lesbian cheerleader.

It's looks a bit like they are trying to re-create the season 1 UK characters a bit too much... especially the blonde girl looking very messed in the bottom left corner - she looks a bit like Cassie... They all look a bit like the original cast plus the 3rd/4th season cast... hmm... not looking forward to seeing this.
David, on September 8th, 2010
At least they look as if they are teenagers, usually US shows cast actors in the 20s and even 30s. Unless they want a nerdy kid for the 30 year old guys to pick on, then they pick an actual 17 year old to play that role.
