The executive producer of Syfy's Being Human has revealed more details of the forthcoming series.

Jeremy Carver told SFX that the new remake will be a "twisted" update of the UK original.

"We told ourselves that we would start very much from the same place where [the original] started and then branch out from there," he explained. "We are not shy about taking bits we love from the British series and skinning them in our own way."

He continued: "I think for fans of the British series, hopefully what they might enjoy is the way we have taken things from [that] version and twisted them to an unexpected outcome."

Carver also confirmed that the vampire mythology in the new series would be "a little different".

"Aidan (Sam Witwer) has the same cool factor that [his UK equivalent] Mitchell (Aidan Turner) does," he promised. "In this season, we play a lot of the relationship between Aidan and Bishop, our version of Herrick."

Syfy's Being Human is expected to premiere in early 2011.
