Stressed Ray

Published Monday, Jul 7 2003, 19:58 BST | By Dek Hogan
Has someone got it in for Ray? Ray may well be a personable chap when sober, but when fuelled by booze he can become loathsome. Therefore, the decision to give him access to an Irish pub for most of the waking hours seems designed to bring out his bad side, a rather unpleasant manipulation. As if that were not enough for the genial Irishman to take on board, he also has the guilt of being this week?s soul nominator, with all the stresses that entails. Frankly, I think he'll crack and there are already signs of this.

It seems those in the house will miss Gos more than those out of it. He always seemed a pleasant enough kind of guy but provided very little in the way of entertainment value. He featured very little in Sunday's highlights package, which was odd considering it was his swansong.

Indeed when watching Sunday's highlights there were times when you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching the live feed, as so little appeared to be happening. At least the bomb scare livened up proceedings.

I missed most of Friday night?s drama. Given the choice between watching Nush mope about her possible eviction or watching Lucy Liu kick ass in my local multiplex, I chose the latter. Well you would wouldn't you?

My first inkling something was amiss was when I was sitting in a restaurant, trying to get onto the DS: BB Wap site to find out who had been evicted. Having buried a rather excellent carbonara and two large bits of garlic and mozzarella bread, I finally got on and discovered the furore that was going on. On arrival home, it was good ol' DSBB that quickly got me up to speed on events. I gave up on trying to access the official site before retiring for the evening.

While I've been focusing on Loathsome Lisa, it appears that Cameron is the villain of the piece to some of you. Maybe I'm just not watching enough live coverage (you can hardly blame me) but I seem to keep missing the Orcadian's acts of treachery. I've seen him stand up for himself and others, state his point of view and indeed engage in the odd bitching session but it all seems perfectly fair and above board to me. Surely all Cammy's detractors can be peeved worshipers of the Church of Tickle so the question I have to ask is, are highlight shows being edited in Cam's favour?

They certainly aren't being edited in favour of the Dragon who sets my teeth on edge every time she opens her mouth. She bigs herself up at every opportunity, often and hopefully unintentionally belittling her housemates in the process and you'd need a very big piece of fish to compliment the chip she has on her shoulder. On her eventual exit she's likely to get booed in a fashion not seen since Adele's dramatic exit last year. I'd normally feel sorry for someone in that position. I can't see myself shedding any tears over Lisa.

As for the house?s two smouldering relationships I wish they'd stop all the furtive glancing and get on with it. It obvious that Steph and Cam still fancy each other like mad so why so coy? As for Scott, I think he's biding his time with Nush, waiting to swoop at the moment most likely to boost his popularity. At least he occasionally puts a smile on that miserable kisser of hers.
