4pm - 5pm

By
4.00pm: One of the few sound cuts that probably will be appreciated occurs as Jon continues to describe 'Return of the Jedi' to Cameron and Ray; 'the new republic is a nice place and the empire is still around but it only controls a tiny portion of the galaxy - there's no real co-ordinated response to this invasion', he says before Tania interrupts to ask the boys outside whether they'd like baked potatoes for dinner, which they say they do.

4.02pm: With the conversation between Justine and Nush on the pedalo censored, it's the lesser of two evils as Jon continues to describe Star Wars to Ray and Cameron, who's eyes are barely open to the point that he ends up closing them anyway; dropping a hint, perchance? The sound is cut as Gos holds his head and continues to listen to Jon, with Gos mentioning that the Jedi force is totally organic; 'there have been no answers - they have had to question their own forces', Jon says before mentioning that 'Luke Skywalker is the new Jedi master and he's been looking for apprentices to continue the Jedi empire'. He stops to listen to the sound coming from a nearby angle grinder...

4.05pm: ... then continues with the political powerplays within the Jedi empire 'to demonstrate the fractious nature of the New Republic'; the sound is still dipped inside the house as Justine and Nush continue to pedal away, with the revs counter not in shot. Sound from outside the house gets dipped too with Cameron looking to have fallen asleep with his hand on his head; 'Luke's a nice guy and loves everyone', Jon says before wondering if Myra has had Luke Skywalker's baby. 'He'll inherit the empire', Ray deduces before Jon talks about 'Anakin Junior' who was named after whoever borne him decided that he would be a powerful Jedi master anyway.

4.07pm: There's still no sound from inside the house as Jon talks about 'Jason and Jayna'; the sound gets cut again, while it's restored inside the house; 'I had lots of friends on a basic level at school', Steph mentions before Nush mentions that none of her friends at school lived close to her and she couldn't go round any of their houses. 'I remember going on school trips and being the only one - twice - who couldn't find a partner to go with', Nush mentions; 'that's horrible', Steph replies. Nush mentions going on an A Level Geography field trip as the sound is cut/

4.10pm: Back outside, Jon says that he finds the books 'enthralling' before mentioning that 'there are some nutters out there who believe all this as gospel'; there certainly is, Jon, there certainly is... Jon also mentions that the inherent message in the books is 'be good to each other' and mentions that some of the Jedi people believe violence shouldn't be used and some think that violence should. 'It's coloured my thinking and I think they've made me be nicer to people', Jon says as Cameron is heard lightly snoring.

Cat from BT has got back in touch with some bad news for Mark Duffin: "Hate to disappoint him but I didn't word that myself!!" I wouldn't have let that on if I were you... ;)

4.15pm: The sound is dipped with Cameron having woken up; 'anybody wants anything?', he asks as Ray mentions that the bean bags are so comfy he could fall asleep. 'I wouldn't mind giving it a go, actually', Jon says as Ray comments that 'it's not that cold' and Cameron comes inside to the house, where Tania is beginning to make dinner. Ray comments that he was 'fuming' and thought he was going to pass out as he was so tired at 5am; 'there's only one 72-hour thing', Ray hopes as Jon mentions that he focused on two bits of wool on the green rug for three hours last night to stay awake.

4.17pm: Ray mentions something that Scott said last night - which is dipped - while the other feed has switched to the chicken coop; Jon mentions that they would've cycled 200 miles by the end of the task, which goes from London to Manchester. 'It's based on the principle that the flywheel is 1m in circumference'; he says before telling Ray how he worked it out. 'I used to love maths', Ray says before Jon mentions that he doesn't use maths at work; 'I asked BB to keep a record of what we've added up', he says presumably in reference to the shopping list, before wondering whether his mates were shouting 'Tickle, you idiot!' at the screen after he added the Saturday shopping list up wrongly.

4.20pm: 'I'm like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in there', Jon says about his trips to the diary room, while inside the house, Tania is doing something out of shot at the cooker as Sissy talks about her hair; the sound is dipped as Tania looks for a teaspoon while Sissy announces that she's going to pick some lettuce. 'It'll make the plate look fuller', she says as Cameron looks around from his position by the kitchen worktop; 'time's up', Tania shouts to the pedallers, with Nush mentioning that she can do fifteen minutes more as Cameron wonjders whether he should be next up. Tania tells Steph that she's going to do tuna mayonnaise with the jacket potatoes; Steph wonders if they've got enough tuna to go round.

4.22pm: As Steph considers using fat from the bacon to put in the mayonnaise, Cameron comments that it 'stinks a bit - anything that tastes like that has got to be good for you'; while Tania stirs the mixture around in the bowl. Cameron claims another ingredient to add as Tania puts the milk back in the fridge and adds some more mayonnaise to the dish, while Sissy pops up out of nowhere to assist further.

Chris Brannigan doesn't seem to appreciate Jon's Jedi stories, commenting "some strange heavy breathing seems to be accompanying the feed during the Jedi story? Darth Vader coming to shut jon up perhaps?" Let's hope so... 'xxenglandxx', meanwhile, asks when the WAP service will be getting up and running - it'll be up as soon as possible, but we're not sure when that is yet.

4.27pm: With the sound dipped from inside the house, outside... the sound is also dipped; it returns with Ray commenting that he's been swearing too much in the house. 'I've been swearing like a trooper in here, despite my mum telling me not to', Jon says before wondering if the plants have been watered and stating that Justine and Nush have been on the pedalo for a long time. 'Justine doesn't like doing it at night, so she tries to do as much in the day as possible', Jon says before estimating that he's done 11 hours worth of pedalling. Ray reckons that Nush and Scott have done the most pedalling as Jon states that he can 'see the home stretch', despite the nasty periods through the night and beyond.

4.29pm: As Ray asks to be given the early late-night shift, inside the house, Tania seasons the contents of one of the saucepans as Steph laughs; the sound continues to be dipped as Sissy stirs around some lettuce in a bowl. Tania tells Cameron about something she 'doesn't like' which is dipped, before Steph comments that Cameron 'doesn't get the attention' for what he does in the kitchen; 'I wouldn't mind a set of bowls for my birthday', she says as a great deal of clinking glasses are heard in the kitchen. Steph asks Sissy when her birthday is before Sissy wonders which side of the sink drains first; 'the right hand side drains into the left hand side', Cameron mentions as Nush comments that she doesn't like leeches and tapeworms from the pedalo.

4.32pm: Anouska mentions that she doesn't like anything that flies; 'even butterflies and dragonflies?', Nush mentions before stating that she can't bear to think about the bugs 'that live in your body'. Justine asks Anouska what she would do if she was on the edge of a cliff and Superman came to save her 'if he looked a bit bug-like' (?) while the sound is cut as the film 'The Fly' is mentioned. The revs counter stands at 80 rpm.

4.34pm: Back outside, Jon mentions that he wouldn't mind paying for new bedding for himself; 'it was quite warm last night', Gos says before Jon mentions that he woke up 'clammy' in his bed this morning even though it was freezing in the room. 'There were runners going everywhere to buy things, so why couldn't they buy some new duvets?', Jon says before Gos encourages him to speak to BB about it; 'I'm not in the mood', he says before talking about one of the female BBs and causing the sound to be dipped.

4.36pm: Jon mentions about the tone of BB's voice; 'when I told her the joke, she wasn't overly happy', Gos states before Jon mentions that they 'were all trying to wind her up'. Gos states that he'll 'put his head down' unless he gets a shout to do something; Jon agrees to give him a nudge in that instance after he notices that Fed has now got up. Inside the house, Ray tells Fed that Scott has gone back to bed before mentioning that he had an hour's sleep earlier; 'shall I jump over anyone?', Ray mentions before Nush - who is still in the pedalo - states that she doesn't need replacing. Ray starts to whistle before mentioning that BB is in a booth far away from the house as Steph waits to go into the diary room.

4.39pm: Steph goes into the diary room as Fed wonders why they've been given eye-masks; Ray tells him that they're to help them sleep when the lights come on at 9pm, although he wonders whether they'll form part of a new task. Ray begins to peel an orange before mentioning that he thought Jon's descriptions of 'the new Jedi order' was very good, as Fed tells Sissy that he had a good sleep; 'you've still got some marks on your mouth', Sissy tells him as the sound gets cut. Fed eats some slices of orange as both feeds switch to the coop camera, while Sissy states that her socks compress when they get wet; 'I shouldn't have got these cheap socks', she says.

'xxenglandxx' asks whether there's been any tension betwen Jon and Gos; I would say there hasn't - not that I've noticed anyway - as Gos has seemed to thoroughly enjoy listening to Jon's tales.

4.43pm: In the kitchen, Steph mentions that she used to drink hot chocolate from a machine 'which tasted lethal' when she had it at work, before mentioning that hot chocolate with cream and a cake is nice although she can only drink a few mouthfuls of it; Tania mentions that she always has a skinny vanilla latte and a piece of cheesecake from her nearest Starbucks before wondering when the jacket potatoes will have finished cooking. 'In three hours it'll be done', Cameron jokes before stating that they'll be having lunch at six o'clock; 'we might have to have soup for supper', he mentions before wondering how many settings the grill has.

4.45pm: Steph mentions that she can't wait for the jacket potatoes to finish because she's hungry now; 'I can eat for England', she says before stating that she's eaten less in the house than she has at home. 'My mum is always telling me to stop eating', Cameron says as Tania scoffs some chocolate, with Steph having some too; at the other end of the house, Sissy tells Ray that she'd like to spend time getting to know the housemates, with Ray mentioning that he thought Sissy was crying yesterday because she was missing people. 'I'm not, because I know they're watching now', she says before adding that she spends days away from her friends and family anyway with her trips to London.

4.47pm: Sissy tells Ray that she's worried about nominations next week; 'just be yourself', Ray tells her before Sissy wonders how long she can not get on people's nerves for. 'I have to be who I am', she says as Ray mentions that he couldn't stand the first set of nominations made last Friday. Scott has woken up, and he zips his jacket up before mentioning to Fed that 'we'll be up til the wee hours' as Fed prepares himself for another shift until 5am. 'These'll help us sleep', Scott comments about the eye-patches before leaving the room; Fed makes his bed and rolls back the top of his duvet before fluffing his pillows.

4.50pm: Feed B has switched to a view of the chicken coop as Scott tells Sissy that he got up 'OK-ish'; 'I didn't mind getting up, but it wasn't at all pleasant', he states with Anouska having replaced Nush in the pedalo. Nush, meanwhile, shows Sissy a sarong she brought in which 'has holes in it' as Sissy states that she had the best sleep she has had in the house just now. Ray mentions a slogan he had on his T-shirt which read 'Dublin' in Irish and which BB had to check out in case it was the name of a designer; 'I change my trousers two or three times a day', Ray says before wondering why it takes an hour to make baked potatoes.

4.52pm: 'Baked potatoes only take twenty minutes to make in the microwave, but they never go crispy', Sissy tells Ray, who mentions that he doesn't eat the skin and likes butter and melted cheese with his; Sissy tells him that they're having tuna mayonnaise, kidney beans and salad with their potatoes today before clarifying which of the housemates didn't have beans for their breakfast this morning. Ray tells Scott that he only slept for two or three hours, while Fed states that he thinks he fell asleep at 11am; Ray tells him that he couldn't have, before mentioning that he'll probably doze off at any moment now.

4.54pm: Fed wonders if he'll go mad from sleep deprivation, but Sissy mentions that he probably won't be so tired when he has something to eat; 'I can't wait fro drinking day', Sissy says before Nush wonders whether they can play the 'spin round on the stick' game again. Sissy again mentions how much she's looking forward to tomorrow's party as Nush and Ray wonder if the pedalo has ever gone below 60rpm while they've been pedalling it; Nush also states that she swore she saw a cameraman looking through the window at her feet.

4.56pm: As Sissy comments on how much she likes one of the housemate's trainers, in the kitchen, Jon tells Cameron that he can't find something that he brought in before wondering why they haven't been given a mop yet; 'why does it take them so long to decide?', he asaks before the sound is dipped on Tania's interjection. Cameron talks about 'the pot with the wonky handle' which BB asked about; 'it just got loose - I didn't hear someone get up in the middle of the night and try and break it', he states that he told BB as Jon again remarks on how long Justine has been pedalling for.

4.58pm: Jon says that he doesn't mind what shift he's put on for the pedalo as BB calls Steph to the diary room; Scott mentions that he'd prefer to stay up late and pedal rather than get up early, with Anouska commenting that Steph 'can't organise her own party'.

On which note, E4 ends its live coverage briefly and so do we, but not before Mark Duffin comments on being rejected by Cat from BT: "I'm pretty crushed obviously. I live in Durham anyways and long distance relationships never last ." Plenty more fish in the sea, Mark...

Anyway, thanks for your e-mails this afternoon - live updates resume with Daniel Kilkelly at 6pm.
