The newspaper criticised Channel 4 executives for allowing him to become a housemate, despite knowing about his past.
The attack, which involved Mohamed biting the officer, took place outside a court in High Wycombe, Bucks, following a case relating to the murder of his cousin.
A Big Brother source said: "It was a time of enormous grief and Mohamed reacted badly to the officer."
It was also revealed that Mohamed served another stint of community service for getting into a fight on his first day of university over alleged racism.
A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "We were aware of Mohamed's past which was dealt with appropriately and therefore did not prevent him from becoming a housemate."
