Housemates grateful for birthday cake

The group was happy to receive Mohamed's birthday cake tonight and immediately began thinking of ways to make the most of it.

The cake had been delivered earlier by Big Brother and the housemates enjoyed it, although some later confessed that they felt sick from eating too much.

In the bathroom, Jennifer told Rachel that the cake and the "sugar rush" it provided were just what she needed. Rachel agreed, saying: "I was chuffed they gave us such a big cake. It will last until Thursday. Cake gives you a boost when you're feeling down, and I think it was really nice. It was like four cakes in one."

Rex told the housemates that he hoped to extract sugar from the cake's icing, and told some of the group that he was planning to collect rhubarb from the garden in order to make a "poached rhubarb cake" with the leftover sponge. The group also decided to keep the cake in the basic bedroom so it couldn't be taken away by Big Brother during the night.

However, not all of the housemates were so pleased with their treat. Mohamed said he thought the cake was "last-minute", adding that it would look good on television but wasn't so attractive close up.

Rachel was quick to defend it, arguing: "The cake is amazing. Don't diss the cake."
