Alex was booted off the show on Wednesday for her threatening behaviour, but her school pal said she was a popular pupil at primary school.
"All the teachers loved her," remembered Alex Brett, 24. "She had a wicked smile and loved making new friends."
Brett, who attended Park Hill Junior School in Croydon, South London with the contestant, continued: "We even shared sandwiches at lunchtime. She was just an angel."
He said it was not until secondary school that Alex "went off the rails", telling The People: "She fell in with the rude girls and started going off in cars after school."
Alexandra was reportedly expelled from St Mary's Catholic High in Croydon after she was caught smoking cannabis in the toilets.
