DS:BB News Extra - Day 82 #1

Published Tuesday, Aug 26 2008, 00:40 BST | By Catriona Wightman
The latest news snippets and gossip from the house...

  • Darnell was desperate to know the name of Kathreya's "Prince Charming". When he asked if it was Dick, she laughed: "Who have a boyfriend called Dick?" However, Darnell pointed out that Rachel does as her partner is called Richard. He continued to guess, telling Kathreya that it was "not fair" he didn't know. "I'm hurt you won't tell me," he added. Rex told him Kathreya had given him a hint. "His name is actually Prince?" Darnell suggested, before deciding on William.

  • Darnell and Sara whispered to each other as they lay in adjacent beds. Initially Sara kept giggling as Darnell's breath tickled her ear, but she soon expressed surprise, asking: "Really?" She added: "It's all making sense to me now." Darnell claimed that what he had told her was the reason he had been a "weirdo" recently. The rest of the housemates wanted to know what was being said, with Kathreya yelling: "I want to get in there! I feel left out."

  • Sara was scared of her bed as she was alone and next to the wardrobe. The group suggested that she swap beds, and Michael joked that if she wasn't a smoker he would have jumped in with her. He later told her she could share with Lisa, but Sara decided Mario wouldn't like that. "I think he probably would," Darnell laughed.

  • As the group chatted about horror films, Rex asked Michael how he enjoyed the movies. Michael explained that most films were "audio-described", so he was given headphones with a commentary. He added that he was still frightened by scary films because of the music and sound effects. However, he revealed that not every film had an audio description, and it annoyed him that an indie flick about someone going blind did not.

  • Lisa told Kat she was still on "cloud nine" and in dreamland following Mario’s proposal yesterday. She said she thought it would take time to properly sink in. Later as she was squatting in the garden, she briefly paused to examine her ring and smiled before resuming her exercises.

  • Rachel and Mikey spoke in the bathroom about how difficult it is to run the perfect bath. Rachel had just run cold water into her tub as it was too warm, but getting in she said she wanted it hotter. "You can never win with a bath," Mikey advised. He likened the conundrum to eating a pizza, explaining that it is always too hot to begin with but then gets cold as soon as you leave it for a few minutes.

  • Big Brother sounded the alarm this lunchtime to rouse sleeping housemates. Lisa noted that "the lads" were not sleeping well at all at night and that accounted for the day-time dozing.

  • Lisa told Darnell and Mo she was good at playing Frisbee, then proceeded to nearly break one of the living area cameras. "It was going alright that one, until it hit the camera," she said. Darnell said it made the game more fun. "Do you know what it is, I'm nervous throwing it around Rachel and I'm not throwing it right," Lisa deduced. Housemates were then warned by Big Brother not to tamper with, or potentially damage, household equipment. Darnell and Mo took the game outside, with Lisa saying she would join them later.

  • Rex threatened that Sara would "go home in a body bag" as the group divided in a row about Geena Davis and Julia Roberts. Despite admitting that he usually found it difficult to distinguish between the two, Darnell bet Sara five shots at the wrap party that Davis starred in A League of Their Own. Sara regretted lowering the bet from ten shots when Lisa confirmed that Davis starred in the film.

  • The group noticed that Mo is their youngest member this afternoon after Sara listed the housemates in age order. Kat immediately set about patronising him by offering him a toy to play with, while Rex warned him to be careful when playing with the plastic cutlery. Mocking his experiments with mascara earlier that afternoon, Sara asked if he had been playing with Mummy’s makeup.
