The latest news snippets and gossip from the house...
Rex, Darnell and Mohamed wondered if they would be able to make a kite. Rex joked that they could use Kathreya's picture to make a "Kat Kite" before admitting it would be too heavy. Instead, he suggested using a plastic bag and dental floss or cotton. The group then began chatting about kite fights, while Michael revealed that he had heard of a big kite falling from the sky and killing someone.
Rex admitted that he hates flying and Michael announced that passengers on planes should be provided with parachutes. However, Darnell explained that parachutes wouldn't work from commercial flights. Meanwhile, Rachel claimed that she had heard that fliers are told to adopt the brace position during a crash so that they are killed instantly and painlessly. Michael said he had heard that the position protected teeth so that the dead could be identified.
The group was provided with chef costumes for today's cooking task, but Rex got fed up of repeatedly explaining how to fold the necktie. When Rachel returned from the toilet and asked for help, he refused. "That's fine, I'll do it myself," she replied. "I don't need you. I'll just do it my own way. It's not rocket science." Rachel also had problems with her chef hat, which was too small.
Rex became annoyed with Kathreya when he realised she hadn't followed his instructions about the Béarnaise sauce. "That's why I'm trying to teach you," he sighed. "You think you know better." Kathreya insisted that it had been an accident, but Rex told her to start again. "It's because I expect the best from you," he added.
The housemates spent some time this afternoon cleaning, but Sara managed to cut her finger. "I'm bleeding like a trooper," she revealed, adding that she wondered if she would need stitches. Rex told her to put pressure on it before providing her with wipes and a plaster. "I don't trust your blood," he joked, as Sara assured him she'd had a blood test before entering the house.
Rachel spent a while in the Diary Room chatting to Big Brother and when she returned, she revealed that she had been asked which Disney character she and Kathreya would be. She explained that she had decided Kathreya would be the Little Mermaid, as she likes swimming and singing, while she would be Belle from Beauty and the Beast as she lives in the countryside and likes reading. She added that Sara could be Jessica Rabbit.
Rex threatened to cut the tomato plants but Rachel was unimpressed. "You're not, are you?" she asked. "For goodness' sake." Sara told her to go and save them while Michael added that it was the spiders' home. "He'll chop a branch and end up chopping a spider in half," he remarked.
Kathreya said again that she wanted a task in which the housemates make up a play. "No-one wants it but you!" exclaimed Rex. "Stop asking for it." He added that if she kept saying it, Big Brother might listen. Rachel sided with Kathreya and agreed that a play would be fun, but Darnell agreed with Rex. "Big Brother, if you do this I know you hate me," he announced.
Mohamed spent most of the afternoon making a chequers board for the group to play with. Rachel suggested chess but Mo explained that all the individual pieces would be too hard to construct. He used an upturned box as the base and painted the squares using nail varnish. He added that you "don't need a brain" to play chequers so they could all enjoy it without thinking too hard. The first game was played by Darnell and Mo as Kat and Rachel looked on. "This is why they don't give us board games," Rachel said. "It keeps us occupied."
Many of the housemates had trouble staying awake throughout the day and wondered if they would be given a task to keep them busy. Sara dozed off twice at the padded seating area in the bathroom, causing Mikey to get angry when the wake-up alarm was sounded. Mo also dropped off at one point and Rex complained that it was becoming increasingly hard to keep his eyes open.
