The bisexual would-be MP said that he’d enjoyed the "chemistry" he thought existed between them. Freddie then told an increasingly uncomfortable looking Charlie that if he ever wanted to "walk up his path" Freddie’s door would be "wide open to those moments of chemistry. Wide open."
Freddie told Charlie that their last massage session, which finished with Charlie tapping shoes on Freddie’s back and walking off, had upset him. "I had a sense it was a surreal joke you were playing on me," Freddie said.
He added that Charlie could talk to him about anything. Seizing his chance Charlie said: "It irritates the fuck out of me when you go around saying 'Hi!' When you don’t have anything else to say, say nothing at all. How about that?"
Freddie took the message on board, finishing the conversation by saying: "Yes, less 'Hi’s' and more fucking hugs."
