Big Brother Obituary: Bea Hammill

Bea Hammill has become the tenth housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother 10 compound on Day 79.

Hammill, 24, lost out in the public vote after she was put up alongside David and Marcus. She was nominated by Rodrigo, Marcus and Lisa. She was also picked by Sophie and Siavash, who both refused to nominate. Big Brother decided that the first two people Siavash came into contact with would be his nominations, while the first two names Sophie said would count as her choices. As a result, Siavash put forward Bea and Sophie, while Sophie's votes were counted against Rodrigo and Bea.

The recruitment consultant from Bristol was part of the second batch of housemates to enter the show on Day 44, alongside Kenneth, Tom, Hira and David.

She immediately forged a strong friendship with Halfwit, but her relationship with the popular housemate caused problems as it conflicted with her opening night secret challenge. Along with the other new arrivals, she was told by Big Brother that she would have to influence nominations so that Noirin and Halfwit received the most votes. If the new arrivals failed the task, they would all be put up for nomination.

The secret challenge put her in conflict with Tom, David and Kenneth, who wanted to give the task their full efforts. Bea refused to participate, arguing that she couldn't betray her new friend Freddie. Her actions prompted a furious row with Kenneth, who at one point threatened that he would "pay someone" to deal with her. Tom suggested that Bea was "milking" the disagreement, but Kenneth still apologised to her about his aggressive tone.

On Day 49, she took part in the Greek-themed shopping task, dressing up as Aphrodite the Goddess Of Love. She was required to record a dating video and was rewarded with a date with a viewer called Robin.

She became embroiled in the Noirin, Siavash and Isaac love triangle by vocally showing her support for Siavash. She told the Iranian-born housemate that Noirin had "burnt her bridges" by dumping him and had a row with the Dubliner about her behaviour with men in the house.

Following Noirin's eviction, Bea became a central figure in the show and on Day 60 was involved in a dispute with David over stolen butter. Afterwards, she complained to the other housemates that David was a bully, but the eBay retailer seemed baffled by her accusations. Tensions between Bea and David remained rife and at one point she claimed that she was "allergic" to him.

One of Bea's most embarrassing moments came on Day 63, when she told Rodrigo that the King Of England was dead, claiming that was the reason why the Queen was head of state. She made a similar blunder when she told the housemates that she had never realised pop singer Stevie Wonder was black. She was also left red-faced after a task in the diary room, where she had to name as many words as she could in a minute beginning with the letter 'W'. She was beaten by several other housemates in the challenge, despite previously boasting about her vocabulary skills.

She complained in her final week that she was suffering from "sexual frustration" and visited the diary room on several occasions hoping to speak to a Big Brother voice, she found attractive. Tabloid newspapers claimed that Bea and Freddie engaged in sexual activity under duvets in the house, but when interviewed Freddie insisted that nothing went on between them.

On Day 62, all the housemates were put up for eviction after Marcus and Siavash broke the show's rules. However, she managed to evade the chop as Hira was given the boot by the viewers.

During the following week, Bea realigned herself in the house, ending her friendship with Freddie/Halfwit. She had already highlighted that she needed more space away from the Oxford graduate and had revealed that she found him "draining" to be around. However, it was on Day 68, when tensions boiled over between the pair. He accused her of bringing "negativity" into the house and guilt-mongering, which riled Bea and appeared to affect her for the rest of her stint in the house. She repeatedly referred back to the term "negativity" in discussions with other housemates.

The following day, Bea moved beds and shifted away from Freddie, which upset him. His friends Marcus and Siavash claimed that he should just ignore her and not put himself "through emotional torture" by responding. On the same day, she blamed Marcus for all the "negativity" in the house, using the example of him moaning about his publicity photo.

She formed a closer friendship with Lisa and David after her fallings out with Marcus and Freddie. She discussed at length with Lisa, Freddie's lack of streetwise social skills and said: "I do hope people watching this don't think, 'Oh, two posh ones in the house', and I hope they differentiate, see the difference."

Her outbursts at Freddie and Marcus became stronger the longer she spent on the show, describing her former love interest in the house as a "prize noddy" and a "f**king tool". She also branded Marcus a bully after numerous arguments about her treatment of Freddie.

Bea grew increasingly paranoid in her final week in the house, frequently expressing doubts about whether she should stay. This came to a head when she was gifted a message from a friend rather than her mother by Big Brother, prompting her to question whether her mum was happy and proud of her. Her confusion and upset at the message caused her to have an argument with Rodrigo, who felt that she was being ungrateful.

She was nominated to face eviction on Day 76 and she expressed with great certainty that she would be booted off the show at the end of the week. However, she ended up being involved in another housemate dispute before she left, after she lied to David about her nomination choices. When he discovered that she had voted for him, David expressed great annoyance at her and the duo bickered on numerous occasions. David's close friend Lisa also distanced herself from Bea, branding her a "drama queen".
