Big Brother had given them the opportunity to have an increased shopping budget for the week if they were successful in the rubbish-based task.
However, with John James unable to break the 'binyata', the group will have the same £200 budget they had last week.
Once the task was complete, the housemates made their way back into the compound, with many of them disappointed they will not have more money to spend. "No ice cream, then," commented Mario.
But Nathan refused to be upset, pointing out that they have the same budget as last week. "We ate fine, didn't we? No point sulking about it," he said.
Steve agreed, adding: "Yeah, and if you think about it they'll be a person less next week."
Big Brother then confirmed that they had not won the extra money, but gave them a consolation prize of a TV dinner and alcohol for the evening, which was met with loud cheers from the group.
