The conflict began as the two were discussing how they would judge people who walked out of Big Brother. When Josie argued against walkouts, she felt that John James was deliberately trying to annoy her by arguing.
Soon afterwards, Josie speculated on why David didn't choose her as his nomination replacement yesterday, commenting that she expected him to. John James told her it was because she is "intimidating" – a description she objected to.
"You get off on pushing people's buttons that's what you do," Josie said, to which John James retorted: "You wanna over-analyse something when it’s said."
"Probably from hanging around with you too much," she replied. The Bristolian then went to the bedroom and complained to Caoimhe about John James's behaviour.
"He's going on like I'm paranoid," she said. "I'm sorry but if he's going on about who's got a gameplan, well he's obviously a bit [like that] himself. And now he's all shirty 'cause I've worked him out."
John James then came into the bedroom to patch up the argument but it led to more disagreements.
"I think he thinks you're intimidating 'cause you're a favourite," the Australian said. "I said he may think that, I didn't say you were. I didn't mean to say you intimidate him."
However Josie retorted: "You said, 'Why don't you think Dave didn't pick you, Josie? Why do you think that? 'Cause you're intimidating, that's why'."
While John James maintained Josie had "misjudged the situation completely", Josie accused John James of "trying to make me out to be paranoid".
Josie later joked that she had been "dumped on TV", which made both sides laugh. The two then agreed that while John James would keep his negative thoughts away from Josie, Josie would have to warn the Australian what topics she deemed negative.
John James added: "I can see in your little brain you think, 'What's he doing now? What's he up to? Who is he?' Like I'm some little alien or something."
"It doesn't matter who's talking about you, it doesn't matter who nominated you 'cause at the end of it we're all gonna go out and have a drink," she said.
