The determined brunette chose the broadcaster as the first of the male housemates to be allowed to re-enter the main house. As he emerged into the garden, he enveloped his heroine into a big bear hug.
"Literally everyone was cheering you on. You were fantastic," he told her, explaining that the boys had been allowed to watch her complete her ice challenge on a plasma screen. "Even Steve said he would have given up."
The elated 30-year-old promised to spend the evening being "more helpful" than he's ever been before. "I'll do all the dishes tonight!" he vowed. "It's so funny, the boys will be spitting blood in there! Some of them are getting a bit nervy, and you know what I'm like - I've been on the hammock all the time."
Back in the lair, the others were discussing Ben's reaction to being the first to escape. Kicking a skull about to pass the time, the boys wondered what Ben would be telling the girls.
"It was absolutely hellish. I lay down for three hours and then I had a sandwich," Mario said, doing an impression of his friend.
