While the other three boys played a throwing game in the living area, Josie lay on her bed playing with a toy giraffe Govan had given her before his eviction over eight weeks ago and staring up at photos of the recently departed Australian.
As Mario walked into the bedroom, he asked Josie which of the two she was most looking forward to seeing tomorrow.
After weighing up her answer, Josie finally said: "I'd just like to know if John James feels the same."
When Mario assured her that John James was "besotted" with her and wouldn't have changed his feelings, Josie argued: "That's in here, ain't it? I'm not getting my hopes up because I’ve been let down so many times in the past.
"I don't think he knew either, that's why he always said, 'let's wait [until we get] outside' and all that. I just don't want to get hurt again, you know?"
She continued: "As long as he's in my life, I don't care. I'd rather him always be my friend than just my lover for a bit. I wouldn't want to live the rest of my life without having him as my friend or whatever."
Having surprised herself by the strength of her statements, Josie added: "I’ve only known him for God knows how long! It sounds weird, don't it?"
Mario disagreed, arguing that time is never a factor when you meet 'the one'.
"It's nice that you’ve found that. It's not an easy thing to find in the real world, let alone in here," he said.
