Aaron has edged ahead of bookmakers' favourite Alex Rose in the DS poll, collecting 40% of the popular vote.
Alex still has strong backing, however, with 35.2% behind her to triumph this evening.
Fellow finalists Jay McKray (14.5%) and Louise Cliffe (6.6%) are struggling for support and bookmakers don't rate their chances of an upset.
Tom O'Connell missed out on a spot in today's final after being eliminated in a surprise eviction on Thursday night.
"I think anyone that makes it to the last week, deserves in many ways to win it. It's a long intense experience. People say Alex is going to win, but she was never up for eviction," said Dowling.
"People may say they like Alex, but look at Aaron, he's won a load of public votes already. On actual evidence, Aaron is the most popular housemate. He's still got a chance."
The Big Brother final airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
