Pedal Power
Published Sunday, May 25 2003, 12:47 BST | By Jason Crawley
The housemates will have to get their pedalling shoes on in order to complete their first group task.
The group have to continuously pedal a pedalo over a period of 72 hours, with two people present in the pedalo at any one time; they also have to maintain a constant speed of 60 revolutions per minute over the whole period of the task, which begins at 12.35pm. The housemates will be told the result after completion of the task on Wednesday afternoon.
The housemates have decided to bet a conservative 50% of their shopping budget on the successful completion of the task; 50% was the minimum bet they had to make.
After finding out that the resolutions will be measured every five seconds, the housemates have been taking turns to practice in the pedalo in order to get a feel for the speed they have to go, as the revolution counter is facing away from the pedalling housemates; they will then do mixed boy-girl shifts throughout the day, with Ray and Nush taking the first shift.
Will they be able to keep the pedalo going for three days non-stop? DS:BB will track their progress all the way...
