Meet the housemates

Published Friday, May 28 2004, 22:06 BST | By Neil Wilkes
All twelve new contestants have now entered the house and are settling into their first night of getting acquainted with each other.

First in just after 10pm was Marco, a high-pitched 21-year-old law student from Middlesex. "Oh my god," he exclaimed as he made his way round the living area.

Soon to join him was Ahmed, a former asylum seekerwho now works as a voluntary lawyer in Liverpool. The self-confessed homophobe - who would rather "sleep on the floor than share a bed with a gay man" - greeted Marco with an enthusiastic hug as he entered the house.

30-year-old air steward Jason - the "shagger from the shire" - stripped down to a thong before he made his way inside. His arrival was met with an expected surprise from the two already in - "Oh my god! What are you wearing?" asked Marco. "Are you a stripper?" After quickly denying the charge, Jason set about finding the beer.

Next was Daniel, a 30-year-old hairdresser who has a penchant for seducing straight men and is a confessed manipulator. "It's a bit like Spinal Tap, isn't it?" he commented after coming through the doors, hugging Marco then shaking hands with the others.

Psychology student Stuart, age 20, entered fifth. A Busted fan, Stuart prides himself on his 4 A grades at A Level and believes that he will be the most intelligent person in the house. Marco greeted him at the door with a glass of alcohol before he moved over to shake hands with the other men.

Confident uni student Victor - who claims to have an "ultra large penis" - was the final bloke to enter. "Dressed for the occasion," he commented to Jason, slapping hands with everyone before picking up a glass of champagne and stirding around the house.

The first girl in the house was South African-born Vanessa. Marco was again the first to greet her, then the other guys followed suit, all exchanging a kiss on the cheek. "Maybe it's just you in here with us," joked Victor.

Mancunian Emma, who admits to being "quite dippy," followed soon after. "Oh my god!" she exclaimed as she came through the doors, pointing at Jason. "My legs are shaking," she said as everyone introduced themselves.

"Radical feminist" lesbian Kitten, 24, also an argumentative politically correct anti-capitalist, was the third woman in. After failing to find her girlfriend in the crowd, Kitten stuck her fingers up at the camera and demanded to see her before she entered. After climbing over the stage and engaging in a long smooch, she was eventually pushed on and into the house by the production crew.

Bisexual wannabe glamour model Michelle, who "loves sex and loves porn," followed on. The exchanges were typical of those that followed before: kisses with the girls, handshakes with the boys and general suprise at Jason's choice of attire.

Fifth in was nice girl Shell, a history of arts student who doesn't like drink and belongs to the bat protection hospital.

Portugeuse-born transexual virgin Nadia was the final person to enter the house. No sooner had she started making her introductions than BB announced that the door was now closed.
