Over 7m tune in for the fight

While devastating for the housemates, the BB bust-up was ratings gold for Channel 4 on Thursday night, early ratings figures show.
An extended hour-long episode at 10pm - recapping the events of the day and night in full - drew an average of 6.5 million viewers and a 35.3% share of the audience. The show was the second highest-rated of the series thusfar, trailing only marginally behind the 6.7 million (34.7%) who watched the launch show three weeks ago.
Ratngs peaked in the final ten minutes with a massive 7.3 million viewers - a 45% share of the audience.
BB easily slaughtered the competition in the 10pm slot; the only show to come close was BBC One's Ten O' Clock news with 5.5 million (27.5%) in the first half of the hour. On ITV1, Fantasy Football and a news update had audiences of just 2.0 million (9.8%) and 1.6 million (9.0%) respectively.
Heightened drama in the BB house has seen ratings steadily rise across this week. Monday's show held an audience around the series average, 4.6 million (22%) but come Tuesday that figure had risen to 5.8 million (29%). Wednesday's live return of the bedsit babes was up to a hefty 6.3 million (31.9%) average, peaking at 7.3 million (43.8%).
