Ahmed: I was kidnapped
Published Tuesday, Jul 20 2004, 10:56 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
Ahmed was kidnapped in Somalia by the secret police, at the age of 17, The Mirror reports today.
He was blindfolded during the incident, and reveals that this is the reason why he refused to be blindfolded during the Farmers & Cows challenge.
"I promised myself I would never be blindfolded again," he told the newspaper. "It was one of the most terrifying moments of my life."
Ahmed had been one of many students trying to demonstrate for freedom of speech.
After he was interrogated and threatened, Ahmed's family paid for his release.
He added, "In Somalia, when you heard the sound of military boots, it meant the army was coming. It brought it all back. I didn't like taking orders from Michelle because it reminded me of the past."
