Derek has launched into a rant about the state of the country.
"I have much more concern than how we live on the state pension, which is why we should abolish the royal family and increase the state pension," the politcal analyst proposed today.
"I'm much more concerned about underpaid nurses. I'm not concerned about how somebody looked at the Brit Awards, which gets onto the front page of the newspaper. These are things that are really important."
He added that he worries for future generations and "the values that these people are going to have. One of the things that has come about in recent time.. [is that] people want to achieve a great deal for no effort or work at all."
His concern doesn't extend too deeply, however. "I'm glad that by the time it becomes an acute problem I will have snuffed out long ago and my ashes will have been scattered over the hunting fields of England."
