Eugene rants about car travel
Published Sunday, Jul 24 2005, 11:52 BST | By Neil Wilkes
Mild-mannered Eugene unleashed his darker side yesterday in a vicious attack on people who use their car instead of walking.
Speaking to Makosi, he complained: "There are some people who think 'oooh, I've got to go to work, work's three miles away, I'll just take the car. It's easier. God, parking's so expensive.'"
He added that walking three miles would only take about an hour, or twenty minutes by bus.
"So many people are using the car just to go to the shop a mile away," he continued. "If you've got a purpose to justify the use of the car, fair enough but things like taking the kids to school. 'Oh but little Johnny, his friend had a cold three months ago and it's nearly a mile'. So?"
