Train spotting rules explained
Published Wednesday, May 31 2006, 13:44 BST | By Daniel Saney
The housemates have been given the rules to a quarter of this week's task, enabling them to be more effective trainspotters.
Lisa had previously summarised the Geek Task to her companions, explaining that the weekly shopping budget task would comprise four elements - observation (train spotting), science, maths and languages.
After dressing in the nerdy clothes provided by Big Brother, the group went into the garden where Grace found further instructions explaining the observation element of the task. The group must pass three of the four sections in order to succeed in securing a luxury shopping budget.
Grace explained the task as follows:
Model trains may pass through the track in the garden at any time of day or night, signalled by a whistle.
On hearing the signal, one geek must run into the garden and write up the train's information on the blackboard provided.
The full model name, time and destination must be recorded in small, neat legible writing.
Each geek must identify at least one train before the task is through.
The group must correctly record 90% of the details correctly to pass this section of the task.
The housemates must not touch or pick up the trains or tamper with the tracks in any way.
Finally, Grace broke it to the group that they would have to learn the models by heart within 30 minutes, after which the information sheet would be removed. Accordingly, the group purposefully began studying up on their trains.
