Australia axes uncut 'Big Brother' show

The Australian version of Big Brother has axed its raunchy spinoff show amid continued debate over its existence.
Big Brother - Adults Only, which aired for one hour each week, featured scenes of profanity and nudity that were unsuitable for the daily show. Unlike in the UK, Australia's daily show airs in a pre-watershed, 7pm slot on the Ten network.
Last year Adults Only - then called Big Brother Uncut - came in for criticism from government ministers after viewing figures revealed that a significant number of children watched the show.
This season the network renamed the spinoff to emphasise its target audience and included regular reminders within each episode. Questions continued to be raised, however, over whether the show should have been on air.
"We did not see that situation changing, regardless of how we treated the programme, and that uncertainty was putting unfair pressure on our team," said Ten in a statement at the weekend. "We have therefore decide the responsible and practical thing to do was conclude the show a few weeks early."
The network added that it was "confident" that it had complied with all relevant TV regulations.
