Housemates react to Emily's leaving

The housemates were left shocked this morning when it was announced that Emily had been removed from the Big Brother house for using a racially offensive remark.

While most of the housemates were still sleeping, Big Brother called Lesley to the diary room before she summoned everyone to get up and congregate in the living room immediately.

Lesley then read out a letter from Big Brother to her fellow housemates, saying: "On the day that you entered the Big Brother house you were all reminded of the Big Brother rules. Emily has broken a fundamental rule of Big Brother and has been removed from the Big Brother house."

She continued: "Big Brother will intervene if housemates behave in a way considered unacceptable. This includes behaving in a way that could cause serious offence
to members of the viewing public, including on grounds of race. The rule clearly states that housemates that act seriously unacceptable will be evicted."

The news caused Charley to start crying and the housemates soon realised a late night incident had happened where Emily had used a racist remark towards Charley, in front of Nicky.

Charley said: "I'm upset for her, but she shouldn't have said it," before telling Nicky she felt sick. Nicky reassured her: "She broke a rule and she's gone, don't feel bad. It was quite insulting. She shouldn't make you feel like this because of what she called you."

Later Nicky explained to the other housemates what had happened, saying: "Charley was joking around and she just said something, then finished the sentence with that, and Charley was in shock. (Emily) said 'Sorry I've got loads of black friends, we say it all the time'. I said you can't say things like that - she said 'can we not talk about it'."

The twins and Laura set about packing up Emily's belongings, and Charley said she has now had enough, admitting: "I'm done with the bitchiness now."

Friday night's eviction, which was set to be between Emily and Shabnam, has now been cancelled.
