Carole told Nicky in the plainest possible terms that she wants nothing more to do with her for the rest of their time in the Big Brother house, late last night.

Carole severed all ties with the accounts executive with an impassioned, but considered speech after Nicky made a comment about a conversation she heard her having with Charley.

"Are we having another row?" asked Nicky, as she passed therough the living area. When Carole told her they were not, she replied: "Oh, that makes a nice change."

"Dont be so facetious Nicky," replied Carole.

She then paused for a moment and said: "Any friendship we had, is over. Don't come to me, don't ask me anything.

"I really do not want to have anything more to do with you in this house. I dont like the attitude that has develped from you towards me recently. The petty comments towards me.

"You tell other people not to interfere and that's exactly what you do. I'm not a friend of you from now on. And that is the end of that.

Nicky's response was a rather more economical: "That's totally uncalled for, Carole".

Carole explained that she could no longer tolerate "the dipping and picking, and snide remarks, and little innuendos that are not very pleasant, and saying things behind people's backs".

When Nicky tried to talk to her, Carole replied: "I don't care, Nicky."

She continued: "I've supported you the best I can. I've got enough enemies without having friends like you."

A visibly stunned Nicky said she didn't understand what had happened. "I think you're being unfair," she said.

Charley tried to explain that Carole's reaction may have been due to the "sarcy comments" they had been making lately. She also told Nicky: "You've been snapping at her, and you've been snapping at me."

"Maybe I have been really nasty to her lately," conceded Nicky.
