Liam poles third place

Liam became the fourth housemate to be evicted in the final of Big Brother 8 this evening, finishing third overall and polling 19.1% of the to-win vote at the time of the count.

The 23-year-old tree surgeon was greeted with hugs from Brian and the twins after Davina broke the news to the eagerly-awaiting housemates.

Upon hearing the news, Liam cheered: "Yes! Well done lads and lasses." He smiled: "Hey, it has been brilliant."

After Davina told the housemates that she would be collecting Liam in 30 minutes' time, Amanda squealed: "Oh your staying! You're staying! I'm taking shoes off," before singing: "whistle for the finale" with her twin, Sam.

Liam left the house at 22:07 to a chant of his name followed by an eruption of cheers.
