Q&A: Chanelle, Big Brother 8
Every day this week in the run-up to the launch of the new series, DS:BB has been speaking to a different housemate from Big Brothers past. Our final interview - backstage at The Big Brother Launch Night Project - is with Chanelle Hayes, the most successful contestant from last year's show. Has she really made up with Charley? And is she planning another assault on the pop charts? Read on to find out.

How's filming going?
"It's been really good. We're an hour behind at the moment, but it's given us time to wolf down some fish and chips and a glass of wine, so I'm happy with it."

Not too much wine I hope.
"No, not on the job. Just a small glass. Or two."

Will you be watching the new series of BB?
"Oh yeah, of course. I've got a magazine column, so I have to watch it religiously every day, which I would be doing anyway. I'm really excited because obviously I missed it last year!"

Do you have any regrets about your stint in the house?
"No, I don't have any regrets. I think if you sit and dwell on the past you're going to miss stuff that you can do in your future. Maybe I threw a few tantrums last year, but it's made me grow up. I've got into a really good place, I've got lots of work and Big Brother's enabled me to do this. So I don't regret going on the show, or anything I did on it, because otherwise I wouldn't be who I am or where I am."

Who do you keep in touch with?
"I speak to Brian and Liam on occasions, and the twins."

And do you get on okay with Charley now?
"I've just taken a professional head. Whether she likes it or not, I'm going to be civil with her. She's just had to grin and bear it. When [you're] in the house it's much easier to argue than when you're working, so you've just got to grow up and do your job. We don't keep in touch, we don't text and we don't have each other's numbers. But if I did see her in the street and she approached me and said 'hello', I'd more than happily have a conversation with her."

And she claims to be releasing a single called 'I Want It More'...
"It's probably true because I've got enough, and she probably wants more. So..."

What do you think of the idea?
"I wish her the best of luck. I haven't heard it. From what she's described it as, it's not my kind of music. I prefer more pop, R&B."

Will you be releasing any more music?
"We've been offered an album, so me and my agent are weighing that up at the minute and [deciding] whether we want to do that. I've been offered a few other things to do with TV as well, so we're trying to weigh up the pros and cons of each. Even if I did do an album and didn't release it, it would just be nice to do it for myself. I'd definitely think about it. But the offer's there."

What sort of music do you want to make?
"i don't know, I want a variety of music. I could even do something with the violin I suppose, or piano. I've got a lot of musical background - I've been trained in music since I was seven - so I've got quite a lot of options."

Is an "all-stars" edition of Big Brother something you'd be interested in?
"Never say never, but right now I'm really happy with what I'm doing, so I take each day as it comes."

What else is coming up for you?
"I've just shot my calendar for 2009. We've just finished the TV show and I'm going to be doing some more TV work. I'm going to be doing some more music and we're going to relaunch my perfume range with a new front cover. It's a bit dated now that I've changed my hair!"

The Big Brother Launch Night Project airs Thursday at 10.40pm on Channel 4.
