Verne has problems on Route 66

Big Brother granted Verne a 15-minute break as he struggled with his American challenge.

As part of the day of US-themed tasks, he and Coolio must ride a total of 500 laps around a Route 66 track set up in the garden.

Both housemate must complete the laps while wearing fake beards and full biking gear, including helmets, leather jackets and gloves.

After a number of laps, Verne stopped and said that the task was causing him pain.

Verne said: "It's these bumps and stuff. The helmet doesn't fit, it's going down on my collar bone."

He also complained of painful hips and blisters on his palms, prompting La Toya to check on the situation with Big Brother in the Diary Room.

She soon returned and said that Verne was allowed to take a 15-minute break and could also speak to Big Brother if the task continued to hurt.

Earlier on in the challenge, Coolio worried that the pair would fail, which could mean that the group ends up on a basic food budget.

"We might not make it," he said. "We might not make 500 laps."
