Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley's voice has been named the most iconic of the noughties, a new poll has found.

The Gateshead-born star, who has narrated all ten seasons of the reality show to date, emerged as the overall winner, according to The Sun.

Simon Greenall, the voice behind Alexander the Meerkat of television's Compare the Market adverts, followed Bentley as the runner-up. Peter Dickson, announcer of The X Factor, landed in third place.

Actress Dervla Kirwan, the voice of the Marks & Spencer adverts, took fourth. Alan Dedicoat, the announcer of Strictly Come Dancing and The National Lottery, completed the top five.
