This comes despite a weak inheritance of just 653k (3.3%) from new business series Secret Interview, which aired between 8pm and 9pm. The reality show has risen consistently since Monday night (August 20).
Live from the House followed with 1.29m (10.1%) between 10.30pm and 11.30pm, after which Emma Willis's Bit on the Side further whetted the appetites of 627k (9.4%) Big Brother hardcores.
The Flowerpot Gang preceded Who Do You Think You Are? with just 2.77m (14%), while Restoration Home interested a sizeable 2.13m (10.7%) on BBC Two. Comedy police drama Vexed followed with a disappointing 887k (4%) at 9pm.
A Midsomer Murders repeat took 3.28m (15.4%) for ITV1 from 8pm (+1: 240k/1.2%), while Superscrimpers: Waste Not, Want Not had 1.46m (7.4%) for Channel 4 (+1: 165k/0.7%).
Overall, BBC One beat ITV1 in primetime with 18.7% versus 16.5% (+1: 1%). Channel 5 snatched third place with 6.5% (+1: 0.3%), ahead of BBC Two's 6.1%, and Channel 4's 5.7% (+1: 0.9%).
The Only Way Is Essex rallied to 727k (4.1%) at 10pm (+1: 205k/2.1%) on the multichannels, while BBC Four's air travel documentary Jet! When Britain Ruled the Skies drew 752k (3.4%) in the competitive 9pm slot.
