The crowd were audibly disappointed when it was announced that the Spandau Ballet star was departing.
Told by Brian Dowling that he was one of the most "charming" contestants ever, Martin responded: "Thank you very much... I appreciate that."
"I really do appreciate it... the banners, everything," he added of his supporters.
Having claimed on the launch night that he had a game plan, he now explained that the intention had been to be "exactly who I am at home".
With Dowling calling him the "house dad", the former EastEnders actor said he had just played the role he was used to having at home, and stated he had tried to manoeuvre younger housemates away from making "mistakes".
A huge fan of Big Brother, Martin ended by saying the experience had been "absolutely everything I thought it would be... really exciting in parts, really boring in parts and... a really huge adrenaline rush."
