The two formed a strong friendship in the house, with Julie saying upon her eviction: "[He was] absolutely fantastic, we hit it off straight away. Kind, caring, funny - he's a friend for life."
Julian, who won the series yesterday (September 7) after beating Coleen Nolan, Martin Kemp, MC Harvey, Ashley McKenzie and The Situation in the final, showed equal affection for the 70-year-old, despite her occasionally controversial actions in the house.
Speaking to journalists including Digital Spy, he said of the ex-Coronation Street star: "I like tricky people. People are boring you know. I'd think,'She'll give a marvellous performance tomorrow', and sure enough, having been vile all day long, the next day she went around saying 'I love you' to people.
"She's complicated and she reminded me of Bette Davis, fiery and fierce."
When asked whether he'd like to work with her again in the future, he replied: "I'd like to. A sitcom, maybe? She's got great comic timing."
Much was made of Julian's calm, unflappable nature in the house - when asked what his secret was, he said: "I don't explode... never judge. That's my way of going through life.
"Once or twice [in the house] I would feel like getting all worked up, but I'll not upset the boat. I'd go and laugh."
